Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 125g butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon sodium bicarbonate
  • 3 teaspoons coffee granules heaped
  • 2 cups self-raising flour
  • 2 eggs

Method

  • STEP 1 lead slowly to a boil first 5 ingredients and cook 2-3 minutes.

Notes

I added ½ cup chopped walnuts folded with flour and eggs for the difference. White sugar will give you a light cake and brown will give you a darker cake. I used ½ white and brown sugar together and comes out a golden color. Use butter or margarine.
