Spaghetti Bolognese

Equipment
- 1 bowl
- 1 saucepan
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 2 cloves crushed garlic
- 2 diced bacon rashers
- 500 g beef mince
- 425 g canned chopped tomato peeled
- 2 tbs tomato paste
- 1 tbs fresh oregano
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/3 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tbs chopped parsley
- 2 cup water
- 1 pinch salt and pepper
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
- 500 g spaghetti
Method
- STEP 1 Heat oil in a large sauce pan. Saute onions and garlic until soft. Add bacon and saute for 1 minute.
- STEP 2 Add beef and brown over high heat, stirring Constantly to break lumps.
- STEP 3 Add tomatoes and Their juices, tomato paste, herbs, seasonings and water or stock. Bring to boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 40-60 minutes until most of the liquid has evaporated and sauce is thick.
- STEP 4 Boil and drain noodles and toss with a little butter. Pile onto serving bowl. Sprinkle with half the cheese.
- STEP 5 Spoon sauce over the spaghetti and serve with the remainder of the cheese.
Notes
Use fresh or dried oregano. Water or beef stock.
